Riverside Woodworking — 2026
Riverside Woodworking
Portfolio site for a bespoke furniture maker on the Miramichi. Built to let four decades of craft do the talking.
Context
Riverside Woodworking is a single-craftsman workshop in Miramichi, New Brunswick — bespoke furniture and architectural woodwork in black walnut, white oak, and figured maple. The work had no presence online: commissions came by word of mouth, and there was nowhere to send someone who asked to see it.
Approach
A portfolio business lives or dies on photography, so the site was designed around the photographs of the work — full-bleed workshop imagery, generous whitespace, and a warm palette pulled from the materials themselves: cedar, parchment, grain. Three pages, no more: the work, the craft, and a way to commission a piece. Every design decision pointed at one action — start a conversation about a custom piece.
Solution
A hand-coded Astro site, fully static, with no CMS to maintain and nothing to subscribe to. Photography is served optimised for fast loads even on rural connections, and the copy frames the value of single-craftsman work — the same one-pair-of-hands argument Fundy Forge makes for the web. The parallel was intentional.
The Result
A working shop now has a working portfolio: somewhere to send every word-of-mouth inquiry, with the photography carrying the sale. There is no platform rent attached — no CMS subscription, no maintenance burden — and commissions start with a form instead of a phone-tag chain.
